Your Council
The size of the Town Council is based on the size of the population so in Stonehouse there are 14 Councillors. Local Councillors do not have to be affiliated to a political party. Each year, at the Annual Meeting of the Town Council, Councillors will vote for a Chair (Mayor of Stonehouse) and a Vice-Chair (Deputy Mayor).

Becoming a Councillor
Any vacancies between elections are usually filled by co-opting new Councillors.
Vacancies are advertised on this website and on notice boards in the town.
The Council always welcomes and encourages interest from any eligible elector who is considering becoming a Councillor.
