SUMMARY:Stories from The Ship Inn - Sun Days at the Ship
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxed afternoon celebrating the heritage\, wildlife\, and stories of the Stroudwater Canal and the historic Ship Inn.\nAlthough the Ship Inn was demolished in the 1990s\, it once stood proudly at the corner of Bristol Road and Downton Bridge—an important hub for the local community. The road now runs over where the pub once stood\, and the site\, left untouched for years\, has become a haven for wildlife.\nStories from the Ship brings together the rich history of the pub and surrounding industry with the vibrant natural life that now thrives there and all along the Stroudwater Canal. \nMeet and chat with local organisations helping to piece together the past and present:\n– Cotswold Canals Trust\n– Stroud Valleys Project\n– Transition Stroud\n– Stroudwater Navigation Archive Charity\n– Cotswold Herbs – offering free foraging walks\n– Fiona Eadie\, captivating storyteller\n…and more! \nEnjoy music\, lawn games\, free face painting\, and delicious food & drink on sale.\nPlus\, speak to the team working on the future plans for the site and find out what’s next for this beautiful and historic location.\nBike parking available on site\nNo car parking – please walk or cycle via the canal towpath if you can.
