DESCRIPTION:Did you know that back in the 1890s\, Stonehouse hosted an annual canalside regatta featuring greasy pole climbs and duck hunts? And that if you fell in the water you ended up becoming ‘Mayor’ for the day! \nOn Sunday 2nd August\, Ship Inn Community Space – Spice\, are officially reviving this historic tradition with a modern\, pirate-themed twist! \nJoin them for a fantastic day of family fun\, live music\, and activities on and off the water.\nWhen: Sunday\, 2nd August\nTime: 11am – 3pm\nFree admission \nHere is what they have lined up for you: \nOn the water \nTheir canoe taster sessions are now fully booked\, but don’t worry\, spaces may become available! Come and spectate – they’ve got a commentator lined up and our Mayor will be on hand for medal ceremonies! \nYou can still get out on the water and join the fun. Cotswold Boatmobility will be there with their fantastic Katakanus – stable\, twin-hulled boats that are virtually impossible to capsize and safe for all ages. No pre-booking required for these\, just turn up all day to try them out! \nCanalside live music stage \nFlying Guitars: Beautiful Spanish guitar instrumentals\nBig Sound: Upbeat folk tunes and David Bowie covers\nHarry Browns Boys: Brilliant sea shanties straight from Bristol (the birthplace of our very own ‘Blackbeard\, the pirate’) to get everyone singing along! \nFor the little pirates \n– Children’s games hosted by Active Lifestyles gym\n– Pirate-themed arts and crafts with local signwriter Mark Amis\n– A land-based duck scavenger hunt  \nFancy dress competition  \nDust off your tricorn hats and eyepatches! Fancy dress is highly encouraged\, and they have special prizes waiting for the most convincing pirates on the day. Ooh arrh! \nCome along to relax by the canal\, enjoy nature\, celebrate their beautifully restored community space.  \nToilets on site – including disabled \nPlease use public transport (Buses 62/65 or Stonehouse Train Station or cycle) or walk to the event. Limited parking in Stonehouse High Street Car Park.

DESCRIPTION:For the grand finale of our ‘Sun Days at the Ship’ series….\nDrum roll\, please… \nThe Stonehouse Regatta is back! \nA beloved annual tradition from Victorian times\, and started by landlord of the Shipp Inn Robert Larkin (check out the Stroudwater History website for more information)\, the Stonehouse Regatta is making a return — and you’re invited to take part! \nPlease note: No parking at the event but easy to get to by bike or on foot along the canal towpath. \nOn the Water:\nLed by the fantastic team at Stroud Canoe Club\, the regatta will feature canoe races\, water polo and other surprises with qualified coaches on hand.\nYou’ll be on the water for about an hour\, competing against other teams.\nCanoes fit 2 adults or 4 small children (or 2 adults + 2 young kids)\nMinimum age: 7 years\nBooking required – Click here to reserve your spot! \nA Nod to the Past:\nThe original regatta featured races\, a funfair\, and even Bovril bombs. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the second instalment of our community summer events\, hosted by the brilliant young people from The Door Youth Group in Stonehouse. Expect a relaxed\, family-friendly day with: \n+ A BBQ\, ice-creams and soft drinks (all profits go towards the Ship Inn Community group so a really great cause!!)\n+ A free 7m climbing wall (aged 7 and over)\n+ Games and activities designed and run by The Door Youth Group\n+ Paddle boarding sessions at a massively reduced cost (£5 per person for one hour – booking required) (aged 10 and over) \nThere’s no parking at the venue\, but it’s easily accessible on foot or by bike via the towpath. DESCRIPTION:We’re all set for a brilliant day of creativity and community. Artists from Stonehouse and beyond—including illustrators\, studio artists\, and street artists — we can’t wait to see what they create! \nThe event is spread over two locations; our main location is the Ship Inn Community Space where we have local artists Tim Woolner\, Marcus Walters\, Charlotte Aitken\, Nadine James\, Noelle Bewry James. Then we also have the site at Stonehouse Town Car Park where we have Sepr\, 45rpm\, Lila Butcher\, Liv Clark and Stroud Painters Co-operative. \nThe weather’s looking hot\, so ditch the sticky house and come cool off under the trees by the canal. There will be a BBQ and Bar\, kids activities\, music and face painting.  \nWalk or cycle if you can — bike parking available.\nNo car parking on site.\nCheck out the map to see the locations and how to get between them.
